CAPE CORAL, Florida (WBBH) — Frantic 911 calls reveal the desperate moments after a man was shot in the face during a road rage incident in Cape Coral, with the suspected shooter arrested after a six-day manhunt.

The shooting happened last Thursday night near Santa Barbara Boulevard, behind a business. A 911 caller pleaded, “He was shot, yes, he was shot, he was shot. I need help.”

Another voice on the call added, “Where’s the shooter? I don’t know. He shot at us and drove away.”

Police say the incident began as a road rage altercation. According to investigators, someone in Dominic Cicchini’s car threw an object at the victims’ car while they were driving on Del Prado Boulevard. The victims reportedly threw the object back, which police say led Cicchini to start shooting. Police did not say what was thrown.

One victim was shot in the face, and shattered glass injured another person in the car. The victims managed to park near a plaza, where investigators later gathered evidence.

“I’m trying to be here for my friend,” one person said during the 911 call.

Jennifer Myers, a Cape Coral resident, described the police response. “We saw about six to eight cops walking along Santa Barbara with their flashlights, looking for something,” she said.

Police identified Cicchini as the suspect after gathering additional evidence. U.S. Marshals arrested him during a traffic stop in Lehigh Acres.

Cape Coral Police Department spokesperson Steven Klakowicz said, “We try to respond to any reports that we get of road rage or reckless driving. We certainly try to handle it before it gets to this type of level. But any time there is any crime that’s committed, our officers and our detectives will investigate it thoroughly.”

Authorities also revealed that Cicchini, a convicted felon, was not allowed to possess a gun. He remains in jail and faces attempted murder charges.
