BALTIMORE (WBAL) — Prosecutors announced indictments against repeat offenders in two high-profile murder cases involving random acts of violence.

Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates on Thursday announced indictments against Tyree Reynolds and Montray McCray.

Reynolds was arrested on Oct. 7 and faces 29 counts that include first-degree murder in the death of 12-year-old Khloe Ishway at a youth homecoming football game at Leon Day Park four days prior.

McCray was arrested on Oct. 1 and faces first-degree murder and robbery charges in connection with a fatal attack on a 76-year-old woman and her husband in Fells Point.

“You commit a murder, we prove our case beyond a reasonable doubt on first-degree murder, we are not going to negotiate, and we are not giving a number. We will only give these four letters: ‘LIFE.’ We will give life. We’re seeking life without the possibility of parole,” Bates said.

The indictments provided new information in the cases, indicating that Khloe was killed by a stray bullet during an Oct. 3 shootout that was not over a parking space as investigators first thought.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument Reynolds had with another man two days prior. According to police, Reynolds said something to the other man as he and another person walked past. Surveillance video shows Reynolds pulled out a rifle and began shooting. Authorities said the targeted man, who had a legal concealed carry permit, took cover behind a truck and fired back at Reynolds in self-defense.

“We are sending a clear message that anyone who commits this kind of act of carelessness, reckless violence will be held accountable,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said. “For anyone who is listening who thinks that making these kinds of choices and engaging in violent crime, causing irreparable harm to your community is cool, you are in for a rude awakening.”

The rifle Reynolds allegedly used has not been recovered.

The indictment against McCray revealed he targeted Claudia Bismark and her husband outside a Fells Point restaurant as they walked down a sidewalk. Police said McCray punched the husband, who fell into Bismark, and both landed on the ground. When McCray, a trained boxer, saw Bismark try to get up, he punched her in the face with such force that she hit her head on the ground. McCray took her husband’s wallet and fled, according to investigators.

“The men and women of the Baltimore Police Department worked relentlessly to investigate these crimes and identify those responsible. They worked through a significant amount of information, pursued leads and connected the evidence that we needed to solve these cases,” Baltimore Police Col. John Herzog said.

Police said McCray is also responsible for another assault and robbery.

Both suspects remain in jail without bail.
