BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WVTM) — Huffman High School has unveiled a new outdoor fitness court, providing students and community members a space to stay active.

School and community leaders celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The fitness court features seven main exercise stations for body-weight training. It is primarily for students during school hours but is free and open to the community outside of school hours.

“Like I told them, it’s a blessing and an honor. Anytime the community decides to invest in kids in Blue Cross Blue Shield kicking in the way that they have, along with our Board of Education, our superintendent, we just proud,” Principal Rueben Nelson said.

Students are also voicing gratitude and excitement about the newest addition to their campus.

“I feel like it’ll give us a little bit more exercise and get it in, get good exercise and work in,” one student said.
