MASCOTTE, Florida (WESH) — The stay of execution for James Duckett, a former Mascotte police officer convicted of raping and killing 11-year-old Teresa McAbee, has been lifted.
Duckett has been on death row since 1987 after being convicted of the crime.
The stay of execution was issued by the Supreme Court in March while the state awaited new DNA testing results on evidence. The results of those tests were inconclusive.
A new date for Duckett’s execution has not yet been announced.
