GREENSBURG, Pa. (WTAE) — Two men are accused of selling steaks from the back of a pickup truck while high in Westmoreland County.

“It’s weird,” said Barbara Reck, who lives on Glenview Avenue in Greensburg. “We don’t have stuff like that going on around here.”

Officers were called to Glenview Avenue and Beech Street in Greensburg after a concerned resident spotted two people selling steaks from a freezer in the back of a pickup truck.

“They had a freezer full of different steaks and meats that they were actively trying to sell to people,” Greensburg police Detective Sgt. Justin Scalzo said. “They didn’t possess a city of Greensburg solicitation permit, which is required.”

Mylique Ryshaude Fisher and Malik Demontae Wilson, both from Maryland, were seen by an officer selling the steaks to a woman in the neighborhood, according to a criminal complaint.

“A white truck was coming up the street very slow,” said Peggy Fox, who also lives on Glenview. “Every now and then, they would stop. It was just a white, plain truck. It didn’t have any markings or nothing. Next thing we knew, a police car came up real fast. We didn’t know what was going on.”

When the officer approached the vehicle, he said there was an odor of burnt marijuana coming from it.

He also noted in his report that Fisher’s eyes were red and glassy. Fisher allegedly admitted to being the driver of the truck.

The criminal complaint states the officer could see marijuana cigarettes near the driver’s seat, two bags of marijuana above the glove box and one between the driver’s and passenger’s seat.

In addition to the drugs, police saw a gun under the driver’s seat.

“The officers found packaged marijuana and a gun under the driver’s side seat,” Scalzo said. “

Before they were arrested, authorities learned Wilson had a warrant for DUI out of York County.

The drugs and gun were seized from the vehicle. Another gun was also found after a search warrant was executed. The second gun was determined to have been stolen through the Alabama Police Department.

“We’re lucky, in this case, that this concerned person called because it led to a good arrest,” Scalzo said. “If someone comes to your door and is trying to sell you something, you can absolutely say, ‘Did you get a solicitation permit from the city of Greensburg?” If they are soliciting, they have to provide proof of that. We don’t want criminals going door to door and committing a crime of violence. So, that’s why we go through that process.”
