CUSTER COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) — Several people are safe following two separate rescue operations in Custer County on Friday, Oct. 9.

The first incident began when Custer County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with Stanley Search and Rescue (SAR) to assist an injured hiker stranded on Elephant’s Perch, a popular climbing area near Redfish Lake.

SAR teams, along with Sawtooth Mountain Guides, carried the hiker down the mountain, where they met a boat provided by Redfish Lake Lodge to shuttle the injured hiker and crew across the lake. The patient was then taken by Air St. Lukes to a local hospital.
