HARDWICK, Vermont (WPTZ) — An apartment building in Hardwick has been deemed structurally unsound after a pickup truck smashed through the structure early Monday.
Hardwick Police Chief Michael Henry said that the driver of the pickup truck told police that he suffered a medical emergency leading up to the crash. Police are still investigating the case and have not determined an official cause.
NBC5 is not reporting the driver’s name at this time as he is not currently facing any charges for the incident.
Henry told NBC5 that the structure is an apartment building. The building has five apartments, and four were occupied at the time of the crash. All of the residents inside the building had to be evacuated and are unable to return to the building until repairs are made. No one else was injured in the crash.
Photos from the scene show the front half of the pickup truck lodged inside the bottom floor of the building, which is located off of South Main Street.
