YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) – A Yuma native is asking for help after losing her home, and is suffering serious injuries in Florida.

Victoria Harris, who is now a Jacksonville, Florida resident and chef, was seriously injured in April after falling through a collapsed floor in her rental home.

Harris suffered a torn ACL, torn hip labrum and torn Achilles.

She is now living in a temporary AirBNB with her high school-aged son while dealing with ongoing housing, legal and medical expenses.

“I’m just trying to make sure that I continue to be there for my kids and have their sense of peace for them when they come home,” Harris expressed.

Harris has created a GoFundMe to help cover her expenses as she works toward finding a more stable home.

The GoFundMe has a goal of $1,800, with only $400 raised so far. If anyone would like to donate to the GoFundMe, click here.

SOMERTON, Ariz. (KYMA) – The City of Somerton is hosting a UTV competition and Bacanora Fest Saturday, October 17, 2026 on Main Street in Somerton.

The free event kicks off at 4:30 p.m. on Main Street and goes late into the evening until midnight.

The festival will have a UTV competition, a free kids area, lots of food vendors, and a UTV trunk or treat for everyone in attendance.

There will also be live music by Ritmo Latino and Tiranos Del Norte, with a surprise headliner that has not yet been revealed.

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA) – The City of El Centro is hosting an in-person meeting regarding Measure T.

The meeting is taking place at the El Centro City Council chambers, located at 1275 Main Street, Tuesday, September 29, at 6 p.m.

During the meeting, the City said they will provide information regarding Measure T, which is a local sales tax measure that will be on the general election ballot.

The City said Measure T would increase El Centro’s sales tax, which is currently at 8.25%, by 50%.

“We want to ensure every resident has an opportunity to engage with us in person and discuss Measure T,” said City Manager Robert Sawyer. “We encourage our community to attend and ask any questions they have.”

In addition, the City said, “Everyday necessities such as rent, prescription medications and groceries are excluded from the tax,” and said if Measure T is approved, it is expected “generate approximately $8.4 million annually in locally controlled revenue for the General Fund” for the following City services:

Maintaining 911 response Helping prevent crime Retaining/attracting well-trained firefighters/paramedics/police Repairing streets/potholes Keeping public areas/parks safe/clean Increasing driver/pedestrian safety Addressing homelessness Retaining/attracting local businesses Maintaining youth recreation/senior/library programs

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) – Arizona Western College (AWC) is hosting a Town Hall featuring Yuma County’s state elected officials Tuesday afternoon.

The Town Hall took place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Schoening Conference Center at AWC’s Yuma Campus.

While State Sen. Brian Fernandez (D-District 23) participated in the Town Hall virtually, AWC named the following politicians participating in the Town Hall in-person:

State Sen. Tim Dunn (R-District 25) State Rep. Michael Carbone (R-District 25) State Rep. Michele Peña (R-District 23) State Rep. Mariana Sandoval (D-District 23)

One topic that got brought up during the Town Hall was artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers.

State Rep. Sandoval said state lawmakers will continue to work with each other and come up with the best solution. 

“I do have a bill that it’s making sure these data centers are coming on in a responsible way…AI is moving faster than we can legislate it. So we need to make sure that we’re legislative so that it’s ethical and so that doesn’t take over our jobs,” Sandoval said.

Students and community members were in attendance to listen and also asked questions, giving their thoughts on issues that matter most to them.

State Sen. Dunn said attending the Town Hall is an example of how residents can reshape the community.

“I always like this town hall because it brings together diverse aspects of Yuma. We’ve got agriculture, education, military officials, so we can really listen to their questions about what legislative priorities they have and what we’re doing to help address those in a bipartisan way,” Dunn said.

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA) – The Imperial Valley Entertainment Convention is back, but this year, it’s moving to a new location.

The convention is set to take place Saturday, Sept. 26, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Cambria Hotel in Imperial.

Several fan favorites are returning this year, including San Diego native Dave Rivas, who voices Joey Drew and Sean Crisden, who voices the Ink Demon in Bendy and the Dark Revival. Rivas is also known for his work as Captain Va’Kel Shon in Star Trek Online.

“I’ve been doing video game voices for going on about 28 years now, and I’ve had a few hits with like Star Trek. I was also the voice of Frogger, a long time ago, like in the year 2000. I’ve had some hits, I’ve had fans for some of the characters I’ve played,” Rivas reflected in an interview with Channel 11.

“But nothing has even come as close to the “Bendy” fandom, they are serious fans. They know everything about the games, the lore. They know all the characters, all the voice actors that play the characters.” he said.

Rivas recently voiced a boxing coach in a new virtual reality boxing game, “The Thrill of the Fight 2.”

“I teach you how to box in this virtual reality boxing game, so I’m starting to see some some of those fans at the cons too,” he said.

Aside from voice acting and convention appearances, Rivas is involved in local San Diego theater, even dabbling in playwriting with a show called “Letters From The Wall.”

Rivas explained, “That’s a play I wrote having to do with the impact of the U.S. Mexico border wall. I used to do a lot of work with a local group called Border Angels that is a humanitarian group. And I just wrote a play on my experiences with that.”

He also teaches voice acting to inspiring voice over actors, “If you ever wanted to be a voice actor, record a TV or radio commercials or video games, animations, messages on hold, whatever, get a hold of me and I’ll, we’ll hook up and we’ll check it out,” Rivas said.

Janeshia Adams-Ginyard, fresh off an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, will also be on site signing autographs. Adams-Ginyard is an accomplished stuntwoman and actress known for her work in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and for voicing the “female Cartman” in South Park: Joining the Panderverse.

“I’m just so happy that they have me back, but what really sparked my interest in returning was the people,” Adams-Ginyard said in an interview with News 11.

“They showed me so much support, whether it’s from Black Panther movies or from South Park movies or from my wrestling,” she added.

For Adams-Ginyard, the convention is an opportunity to meet fans and make new connections.

“I never ask anyone to buy anything. I am there solely to talk to you. If you happen to buy something, cool, fine, and dandy. But I am really there to socialize and talk and meet people. Because I know that I’m operating in my purpose and my passion,” she explained.

Adams-Ginyard, the first woman to be nominated for an Emmy for her stunt work, said she is excited that this year, the Academy Awards has added a new category for “Achievement in Stunt Design.”

“It’s just an honor to see that it’s being recognized across all different award platforms. It’s cool because stunts are a very big component of the industry. Because let’s be honest, if you have an action movie and there’s no stunts, you don’t have an action movie,” Adams-Ginyard said.

When she’s not on set, Adams-Ginyard can be found giving motivational speeches and moderating SAG-AFTRA panels.

“I speak to a lot of different youth, young adults about mindset, she explained.

“I’m very big into mindset because we have so many people navigating this planet broken  and they have been deterred from their dreams, aspirations, and goals because of something someone said to them.  So I’m very big into inspiring and on mindset,” she said.

Other artists slated to appear are Ginny Holtzman, the voice of Peppermint Patty in the “Peanuts” cartoons, and Madison Brunoehler, the voice of Happy Frog in “Five Nights at Freddy’s.”

For wrestling fans, former WWF star Chavo Guerrero Jr. and WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi are scheduled to appear.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing person.

Sydnie Nicole Marfione, 25, is described by YCSO as around five-feet, two-inches, weighing around 110 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

YCSO said Marfione was last seen on July 11 traveling through Yuma as she is an out of state traveler from Florida believed to be traveling to California.

YCSO also said Marfione is believed to be traveling alone and is without her vehicle.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) – Victims’ Rights Committee is hosting an event to honor the memories of murder victims across Yuma County.

The event is taking place Friday, September 25, at the Yuma Arts Center, located at 254 S. Main Street, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to remember those who were murdered, the event will also recognize the impact of surviving family members, friends and loved ones, according to the committee.

Mark Martinez, Yuma City Council member and Chairman of the Victims’ Rights Committee, will serve as Master of Ceremony, and several family members and friends of murder victims will also participate in the event, the committee said.

There will also be a Wall of Remembrance for family and friends to post pictures of loved ones who died at the hands of someone else, the committee added.

(KYMA) – The IVC Foundation Office is hosting the annual IVC Golf Tournament at the beautiful and popular Rams Hill Golf Club in Borrego Springs, California.

The tournament will be held on October 22, 2026, with a shotgun start taking place at 11:30 a.m.

The format will be a 4-Person scramble and competitors will be playing for a chance at prizes for top teams, closest-to-pin, long drive and putting competitions.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go towards the IVC Scholarship Fund which annuallyassists over 800 students with scholarships.

Last year, the IVC Foundation distributed over $242,000 in scholarships to IVC students pursing college degrees and certificates and the annual golf tournament is a key factor in being able to provide more scholarships.

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA) – Assembly member Jeff Gonzalez (R-District 36) kicked off his reelection campaign in Brawley.

Assembly member Gonzalez is the incumbent for California’s 36th District, which covers all Imperial County and parts of Riverside County.

News 11 asked Gonzalez what he’s most proud of looking back at his time in the California Assembly.

“The crowning achievement was fighting back against the governor when he wanted to cut $700 million dollars from in-home supportive services for the most vulnerable people in our district, in our community. That’s the crowning achievement,” Gonzalez shared.

Gonzalez recently introduced a bill to help ensure Lithium Valley and its clean energy potential are included in longterm planning for the state.

The bill will designate critical mineral development zones and prioritize state investments.

“We just got it signed by the governor was making sure that Lithium Valley. Lithium Valley here in Imperial County was looked at every time that they wanna do work inside of California for procurement to making sure that we are recognized,” Gonzalez explained. “No one else was able to do that. We did that and we got it signed.”

One resident, Joanna Caballero, said Gonzalez has her vote.

“We really love what he’s been doing for Imperial County representing the community. We love that he’s been representing the most vulnerable such as the IHSS employees,” Caballero expressed.

Gonzalez, who is facing Democratic challenger Ida Obeso-Martinez in the November 3 election, is hosting a free community BBQ Saturday, September 26, in El Centro.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) – A Yuma restaurant is growing alongside its loyal customer base and now has more room for customers to enjoy its popular menu.

4 Lokos recently moved into a larger location in Yuma. With its popular food and unique atmosphere, it’s easy to see why customers keep coming back.

The authentic Mexican-American restaurant moved a few miles down Fourth Avenue from its original location near the Shell gas station.

4 Lokos is now located in the former Applebee’s building near Catalina Drive.

The restaurant is known for its Sonoran twist and wide variety of menu options.

Co-owner Martin Ramos says the restaurant’s success quickly outgrew its previous space, prompting the move to a larger location.

“Going from a 65-person capacity, seating-wise, we can now accommodate 170. It’s been great. The Yuma community has been very good to us. We are very busy, and we feel very blessed,” Ramos said.

The restaurant’s Western and Sonoran-style theme was inspired by the backgrounds of several of its co-owners.

“We wanted to stick to Western-Sonoran-style décor because that’s where our roots come from. My mom is from Sonora, and some of the other owners are from Sonora as well. We wanted to keep that Sonoran theme,” Ramos said.

The food at 4 Lokos also stands out because of the restaurant’s authentic grilling style.

I tried the asada and chicken tacos, and they certainly lived up to the hype.

“Here, we do all of our grilling outside. Everything gets grilled outside on a charcoal grill. That’s how it all begins,” Ramos said.

One returning customer says she recommends 4 Lokos to anyone looking for a new place to try.

“This is our first time at the new location, but we went lots and lots of times to the old location. I got the Taco Yaki. These are my absolute favorites, and I have to get them every time,” 4 Lokos customer Melissa Matues said.

The new location is 3101 S. Fourth Avenue.
