SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – CAL FIRE SLO crews rescued a man who fell down a cliff near the bluff trail at Montaña de Oro State Park just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The man received medical treatment after being hoisted to the top of the cliff for evaluation of injuries, according to CAL FIRE SLO.
The patient’s extent of injury is unknown at this time, according to CAL FIRE SLO.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) – Santa Maria Police arrested a man after a robbery and sexual assault investigation around 3:00 a.m. Saturday at the 1700 block of Oxford Avenue.
SMPD officers contacted the woman victim who got sexually and physically assaulted by the suspect.
The victim mentioned the suspect had a handgun and took money from her by force before retreating into the home, according to the SMPD.
SMPD officers then contained the home and tried to get the suspect out of the house for a surrender, an offer the suspect refused multiple times.
SMPD detectives obtained a search warrant due to the serious nature of crimes and the suspect being potentially armed.
The SMPD SWAT Team took over the case and the suspect ultimately surrendered without incident.
SMPD officers cited another suspect in the home for obstructing/resisting officers, though the investigation remains ongoing.
SMPD officers arrested the main suspect in the sexual assault and robbery investigation on the following charges:

robbery
assault with a deadly weapon/force likely to produce great bodily injury

FRESNO, Calif. (KEYT) – Atascadero could not cool off the hot second half shooting of Clovis and the top-seeded Greyhounds lost 65-47 in the CIF-Central Section Division 2 championship game in boys basketball.
It’s the first CIF title in boys basketball for the Clovis Cougars since 1947.
Atascadero was led in scoring by Shea Buckley who had 15 points.
#2 seed Clovis got a game-high 19 points from junior Sier Harbin.
Damon Jackson Jr. tallied a double-double for the Cougars with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
The Greyhounds(20-10) now get ready for the State playoffs which begin next week.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (KEYT) – The Mustangs lost a pitcher’s duel to #25 USC as they suffer their fourth straight loss.
The game was scoreless until the top of the 11th inning when the Trojans broke through with six runs to stay undefeated in a 6-0 victory.
The Trojans are now 9-0 on the year and three USC pitchers nearly combined to no-hit the Mustangs. Nate Castellon broke up the no-no with an infield single up the middle with one out in the top of the 11th inning. Alejandro Garza followed by hitting into a game-ending double play at Cal Poly falls to 4-5 on the season.
Reigning Big West Pitcher of the Week Griffin Naess turned in another outstanding performance on the mound. He pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing just 4 hits while striking out 7.
But USC countered with Mason Edwards who worked 7 hitless innings, striking out 10 Mustangs. Reliever Sax Matson pitched 3 perfect innings and struck out 5. Diego Velazquez pitched the 11th but did give up the lone Cal Poly hit.
Jack Basser drove in the first two runs of the game with a ground ball double just past the first base bag.
Maddox Riske added a 2-run single in that six-run uprising for USC who has taken the first two games of this series.
Game 3 is Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m.

UC SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – The UC Santa Barbara softball team secured a walk-off 7-6 victory over LIU and followed it up with a hard-fought 4-3 win against Iowa State, taking their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth on Friday.
GAME ONE: GAUCHOS 7, SHARKS 6In the game against LIU, UC Santa Barbara’s offense was highlighted by three home runs, contributing significantly to its victory. The scoring began in the first inning with Dani Rauscher’s single up the middle. Rauscher advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on Ainsley Waddell’s sacrifice fly, giving UC Santa Barbara a 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Emily Carr walked and advanced on a groundout before Delaina Ma’ae singled to center field, bringing Carr home, making it 2-0.
The third inning saw Waddell contribute again with a solo home run to center field. Despite a run from Long Island, UC Santa Barbara maintained the lead at 3-1. LIU responded with a run in the fourth, narrowing the margin to 3-2, and in the fifth, the Sharks took the lead by scoring two runs, moving ahead 4-3. However, UC Santa Barbara retook control in the sixth inning. Tehya Banks singled and advanced to third on an error, followed by Giselle Mejia’s RBI single. Ma’ae then hit a two-run homer, regaining the lead at 6-4. The Sharks tied the game with two runs in their half of the inning, making it 6-6. The decisive moment came in the seventh inning when Waddell hit her second home run of the game, a solo shot to right field, clinching the victory with a final score of 7-6.
GAME TWO: GAUCHOS 4, CYCLONES 3In the game against Iowa State, the Cyclones took an early lead in the first inning after a two-run home run, giving Iowa State a 2-0 advantage after one inning. They extended their lead in the second inning with a solo home run, making the score 3-0. UC Santa Barbara responded in the fifth inning with a rally. Ainsley Waddell struck out swinging, but Tehya Banks singled, and Emily Carr walked. Bella Fuentes also walked, loading the bases. Giselle Mejia then singled up the middle, scoring Banks and Carr. Jaelyn Toledo followed with a single, scoring a pinch runner for Fuentes, tying the game at 3-3 after five innings.
In the sixth inning, UC Santa Barbara took the lead. Waddell was hit by a pitch and replaced by pinch runner Kaylin Garcia. Banks singled, advancing Garcia to third. Fuentes singled, loading the bases, and Mejia hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Garcia to score. This put UC Santa Barbara ahead 4-3 after six innings. The defense held strong in the seventh inning, securing a 4-3 victory over the Cyclones.
UP NEXTUC Santa Barbara will play Iowa State in a single game tomorrow at 12:45 p.m. The Gauchos and Cyclones game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available.

UC SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – More Friday fun for Gauchos ace pitcher Jackson Flora.
He was fantastic for the third straight Friday to start the season as UCSB beat Utah 7-2 to extend their winning streak to five games.
Flora pitched seven innings allowing just 1 run on 4 hits with 10 strikeouts as he moves to 3-0 on the season.
The Gauchos(6-2) backed Flora with plenty of offense highlighted by a 2-run double in the second inning by Cole Kosciusko and a 2-run home run in the fifth inning by Nate Vargas.
The 3-game series continues on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m.

NIPOMO, Calif. (KEYT) – Hundreds of elementary school students from South San Luis Obispo County attended an annual tradition in Nipomo Friday morning.
Over the course of three hours, students in grades from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade, took part in a career fair at Nipomo Elementary School.
Held each year, the event rotates locations at all three Nipomo-area elementary schools, including Dana and Dorothea Lange.

Some of the occupations on hand included Vandenberg Space Force Base aerospace engineers, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies, CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo County firefighters, as well as employees from Caltrans, San Luis Obispo County Library, California State Parks, San Luis Ambulance, CoastHills Credit Union recreation director, Cal Star Air Medical Services, Community Health Centers of the Central Coast and many more.
Longtime News Channel reporter Dave Alley, who also serves as the station community liaison, also spoke at the event, which he has done many years prior.
During the career day, students were given a list of questions to ask the speakers that related to their occupation.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – Habitat Santa Barbara is coming to downtown Santa Barbara with its specialized business known as the “ReStore.”
Inside, community donations that have been collected will be sorted, priced, and sold including furniture and home décor, along with usable building materials and fixtures.
These items will be available to the public at a discounted price with the proceeds supporting Habitat Santa Barbara’s local affordable housing efforts.
The ReStore is at 400 State Street on the corner of Gutierrez Street. It will open this summer.

LOS ALAMOS, Calif. (KEYT) – The new Los Alamos Merchant Association is kicking off its first buy local program this Sunday.
They’re calling it march merchant madness.
visitors can get started by signing up online for a digital Home Town Passport.
When you visit any los alamos business during march, upload your receipt for a stamp on a newly created digital passport.
“The businesses on Bell Street are excited to see how much we can, encourage people to come to Los Alamos,” says Allison Smith, one of the Los Alamos Merchants Association’s directors.
Every four stamps gets you entered in a drawing for a gift basket themed around the rustic town.
That basket will also include products donated by local businesses, along with gift cards for restaurants and hotel stays.
“The last week of March, people can use the saloon as well,” says Patrick Farley, new owner of the 1880 Union Hotel. “I guess that’s a perfect opportunity to launch it, is for Locals Night on Saint Patrick’s Day. And then from there after the saloon will be open regularly.”
Local business owners say there’s something for everyone within walking distance along the downtown strip, from bakeries and wineries to antique stores, parks, Thursday night karaoke, and dining options for each meal of the day.
“There’s some new businesses here that just opened last month,” says Smith. “There’s some that are opening later this month. There’s some that have been here for over 20 years.”
As temperatures climb through the spring, Los Alamos offers an old-west atmosphere, nestled among hills still green from the rainy season.
“We pulled out of Paso, you know, and I pulled out of Carlsbad to live here full time because of what Los Alamos is,” says Farley. “I think it’s just a one of the most, you know, special places that I’ve been to.”
The campaign officially starts on Sunday, and everyone is invited to participate.
