FREMONT, Nebraska (KETV) — Senior residents from Fremont panned for gold and gems in an effort to learn more about geology and minerals.
High Touch High Tech of Nebraska brought the hands-on experience to Dunklau Gardens on Thursday afternoon.
Residents got to pan for gemstones and identify their finds.
“Our mission is really to change a person’s relationship with science. A lot of people think science is not for them. But we put the joy back in science,” said Jennifer Driscoll, regional director for High Touch High Tech.
“We were laughing and talking about what we’re finding, what they look like, and I’ve got something that looks like a little spider. It was fun learning new things,” said resident Judy Stork.
High Touch High Tech also brings science to schools across the nation.
