SAN ARDO, California (KSBW) — San Ardo residents now have new sidewalks designed to improve safety and access throughout the town, with Monterey County celebrating the project today during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The project includes sidewalks along three streets, curb ramps, and crosswalk improvements to better connect residents with the local school and other community spaces.

Officials highlighted the significance of the investment for the community.

“This is everything. For a tiny town like this, you often hear the refrain, we’re not seen, we’re forgotten, nobody knows where we are, to see this level of investment, it’s heartwarming. You heard the cheers and the kids today, they were just so happy that this is for them,” Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez said.

The sidewalk project is nearly complete, with flashing beacons, lighting, and crosswalk striping still needing to be installed.
