UofL Health employee celebrates 74 years of service at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WLKY) — An employee at UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital reached a milestone very few do.
Shirley Druien started at Mary & Elizabeth when she was 15 years old.
On Tuesday, she celebrated 74 years of service with the hospital.
Druien has worked with all kinds of people over the years, with some becoming like family.
“I’ve worked with a lot of good people,” she said. “We have seen our kids grow up. We have cared about everybody’s children, how they’re doing and I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to work with.”
Druien starter in the kitchen and is now a lab assistant.
She said the secret to a long career is working somewhere you love.
