POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Oklahoma (KOCO) — Two sisters have been charged with desecration of a human corpse and unlawful removal of a dead body after the remains of a missing man were found in rural Pottawatomie County earlier this month.
Troy Tolton was reported missing by a family member in mid-August. About two months later, Agnes Crenshaw and Monica Pacheco were arrested in connection with his death.
“He was supposed to be traveling to the OKC area to help someone move. He had to pick a trailer up. He didn’t get to either location,” Lieutenant Dakota Black of the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office said.
Tolton’s remains were discovered buried at a property near Little River Road and Yellow Brick Road, close to the town of Pink. Court documents said that Crenshaw was Tolton’s girlfriend, and Pacheco is Crenshaw’s sister.
“That was concerning in itself, that the individuals living with him did not report him missing,” Black said. “It was one of Troy’s family members, and again, that was two weeks after he went missing.”
New court documents filed this week reveal that Crenshaw had discovered Tolton was communicating with other women and had been unfaithful. The documents also said that Oklahoma City police found Tolton’s vehicle abandoned at the intersection of 104th and Peebly Road on Aug. 15.
However, the documents said, “Troy’s vehicle was likely placed there sometime between August 7th and August 10th.”
Investigators learned from Pacheco that an excavator had been rented.
“They had rented an excavator on July 31 and returned the excavator to the OKC area on Aug. 3—so when we went out to the property, we were able to find tracks and, ultimately, where he was located,” Black said.
The excavator was equipped with a GPS tracking system, and court records show that the system indicated it had operated near a burn pit on Crenshaw and Pacheco’s property and at a second location on their land where Tolton’s remains were found.
It is unclear when Crenshaw and Pacheco will appear in court.
