EL PASO, Texas (KVIA-TV) — The Puente News Collaborative will host a public town hall this week focused on the upcoming midterm elections and the issues shaping the Borderland. Stephanie Valle, Senior Program Officer for Puente News Collaborative at the El Paso Community Foundation, joined us on ABC-7 at 4 to discuss the event’s purpose, community engagement, and why Puente is hosting the conversation.

The event, titled Battle for the Border, will bring together journalists, election experts, and community leaders to discuss key races and voter priorities across the region. Organizers say the discussion will analyze polling results from a Congressional race in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley that could play a significant role in determining control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Panelists include Alfredo Corchado, executive editor of Puente News Collaborative; Bob Moore, publisher of El Paso Matters; Mark Jones, a political science professor at Rice University; and Lisa Wise, El Paso County’s Elections Administrator.

According to organizers, the town hall will focus on election issues affecting El Paso and the broader border region and give residents a chance to hear from experts and join the conversation.

The event is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. at 333 N. Oregon St. and is open to the public.
