Teton County Sheriff candidate Eric Snow placed on paid administrative leave ahead of Wyoming general election

JACKSON, Wyoming (KIFI) — A Republican candidate for Teton County Wyoming Sheriff has been placed on paid administrative leave, effective immediately, less than two weeks before the Wyoming General Election.

According to a report by the KHOL, patrol deputy and political candidate Eric Snow was placed on administrative leave following an early Wednesday morning arrest where Snow recorded a driver’s preliminary breath test at 0.202%, more than double the legal limit. However, Snow did not conduct a full DUI investigation, but instead charged the driver solely with speeding and violating prior release conditions from a previous DUI.

This incident followed past scrutiny surrounding his July 18 arrest of Ethan Howard McIntyre for drug-impaired driving, a charge dismissed two days later for lack of probable cause, according to a report by the Jackson Hole News and Guide. That July arrest triggered reviews by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the FBI. However, the FBI declined a civil rights case, per the Jackson-based publication.

The disciplinary action comes as Snow campaigns against incumbent Democratic Teton County Sheriff Matt Carr. In a statement to KHOL, Sheriff Carr said he was “completely removed from the decision-making process due to the nature of the election.”

The Teton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the administrative leave to Local News 8, stating it could not comment further due to the active internal investigation.

Local News 8 has reached out to Deputy Snow for additional comment. This story will be updated as new details become available.
