COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Demolition on the grain towers in Moberly are nearly complete.

Work to begin demolition started last month. Just the bases of the buildings remained on Tuesday.

City spokesman Scott Garvey told ABC 17 News the “high-reach work” was completed on Monday.

“Most of what will happen going forward is sorting of metals and reducing concrete down to fill rock,” Garvey’s statement says. “The work so far has been typical of a demolition project of this size and we’re grateful that there haven’t been any out of the ordinary issues.”

Garvey said the project is still in line with its original timeline and budget and that work should wrap up in the next few weeks.
