OMAHA (KETV) — Union Omaha hopes to have its downtown soccer stadium ready for fans by 2028. The city of Omaha is proposing an agreement to help pay for the stadium and redevelop property in the area.

The public can weigh in at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Under the proposed ordinance, the city would contribute up to $106.5 million for the construction of the stadium.

Also, up to $10.5 million would be reimbursed for public improvements.

The redevelopment would happen on property northeast of 11th and Izard streets. That’s in the Millwork Commons area.

The redevelopment wouldn’t just be for the stadium, but also commercial, retail, housing, parking, public improvements and infrastructure around the stadium.

Alexis Boulos, Union Omaha’s chief operating officer, said the project has been in the works since 2021.

“Really excited to be moving downtown, we’re playing in downtown right now at Morrison Stadium, kind of getting ourselves closer to being part of this community and thrilled to be joining the Millwork Commons community,” Boulos said.

Boulos said Union Omaha representatives will be at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
