KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KMBC) — Have you ever wanted to feed a giraffe?

Now at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium, you can!

The zoo announced that giraffe feedings began Wednesday and will continue daily at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.

“Thanks to the dedicated zoo staff and some lucky zoo guests over the past few months, the giraffes are now comfortable being hand-fed both outside and inside their new habitat,” the zoo said on social media.

Guests can visit the new Giraffe Crossing, opened in May 2026, to check out the giraffes and feed them.

It costs $5 to participate; only cards are accepted as payment.

The zoo reminds guests that it is the giraffes’ choice to participate, and the giraffes may walk away at any time during the feeding.

“Giraffes in general, specifically the Masai giraffe that we have, can be tentative,” Kansas City Zoo CEO Sean Putney told KMBC 9. “You have to remember that even though they’re 18 feet tall … they are prey as opposed to predators. So they’re always very wary.”

The young giraffes aren’t quite tall enough to participate just yet, but the adult giraffes are more than ready for a snack!
