GAINESVILLE, Texas (KOCO) — Two bodies were found in Texas amid a search for a missing father and his 4-year-old son from Norman.

A 25-year-old father and his son went missing from Norman on Sunday evening. On Wednesday, the Gainesville Police Department in Texas said it had located a deceased man and child while searching for the father and son from Norman.

The Gainesville Police Department said in a social media post that officers became aware of the missing Oklahomans at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, when a relative of the Oklahomans told officers that the father and son had been seen at a business on North Grand Avenue at 3 p.m. Monday.

The officers confirmed that they received a call from that location about a suspicious situation involving a man and a child. When officers arrived at the scene, they were unable to locate the man or the child, according to police.

Officers continued searching the area for the subjects and the vehicle they were believed to be traveling in on Wednesday after the conversation with the relative. After reviewing surveillance video from the business that the man and child were seen at days before, police said they identified what appeared to be the missing father and son from Oklahoma.

The man and child were seen walking from the area.

While searching the area, an investigator located a deceased man and child, according to Gainesville police.

The missing father and son, who KOCO is not naming until a positive identification is made by the medical examiner, were the subjects of an Endangered Missing Advisory that was issued by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Tuesday. An Amber Alert was then issued for the 4-year-old boy at about 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers were called to assist with the investigation.
