El Paso City Council District 5 debate: Ivan Niño, Richard Genera
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Four El Paso City Council races will be on the ballot this November. ABC-7 hosted the District 5 Candidates for an in-studio debate.
City Rep. Ivan Niño, the incumbent, has served as District 5 city representative since 2025. He is a lifelong resident of El Paso with more than a decade of experience across city and county government.
He’s facing off against Richard Genera. Genera was born and raised in El Paso. He’s an El Dorado High School and UTEP graduate. He works as a community organizer specifying in helping El Paso youth engage in local politics.
ABC-7 asked the candidates about affordability, data center development and what they consider the biggest issue facing the District.
