DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WLWT) — A nurse aide is accused of stealing a debit card from a 92-year-old woman with dementia at Bayley Place in Delhi Township and using it at several nearby businesses.

Kayla Lynn Huff, 32, of Addyston, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 8, on charges of theft and misuse of a credit card, according to a Delhi Township police report.

Investigators say the theft happened Sept. 3, when the resident was out of her room. According to a court affidavit, Huff entered the room and took the woman’s debit card.

The affidavit says surveillance video showed Huff entering the resident’s room around the time the card was stolen.

Investigators allege Huff then used the card for two transactions at a nearby Sunoco. Later that evening, she allegedly used it again at the McDonald’s drive-thru on Kibby Lane.

According to the affidavit, Huff acknowledged that she drives the vehicle seen in surveillance footage from the McDonald’s drive-thru.

On Sept. 5, investigators say Huff used the card to make additional purchases at the Dollar Tree on Delhi Pike. The affidavit says surveillance video from inside the store showed her using the resident’s stolen card.

The unauthorized transactions totaled $90.26, according to court documents.

In a statement to WLWT, Bayley Place Chief Operating Officer Rachel Wirth said the facility is aware of the matter.

“We are aware of the matter and understand that it is now proceeding through the legal process,” Wirth wrote.

She said Bayley Place would refrain from further comment out of respect for that process and allow the matter to run its course.
