D93 Suspends Bus Route 45 as Drivers Walk Away over Student Behavior
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — Bus service on Bonneville School District 93’s Route 45 has come to a sudden halt after drivers refused to drive the route following repeated behavioral issues.
Less than six weeks into the school year, D93 Public Information Officer Phillip Campbell confirmed the temporary suspension of the route. According to Campbell, drivers faced repeated disruptions, including students throwing paper and spitballs, engaging in water fights, pushing and shoving, and repeatedly ignoring instructions.
“Students are expected to follow bus rules, treat others respectfully, and allow drivers to focus on safely transporting students to and from school,” said Campbell. “Ongoing behavior concerns on Route 45 have contributed to multiple drivers stepping away from the route this school year.”
According to D93, school principals are now reviewing bus video footage to pinpoint incidents and determine appropriate disciplinary action. In the meantime, the district is actively searching for a replacement driver.
“We are committed to working with students and families to address these concerns and maintain a safe environment for everyone on the bus,” said Campbell in a statement for D93. “We understand that suspending service creates a significant hardship for families, and we regret the disruption this causes. We appreciate families working with us to reinforce the expectations that make safe, reliable transportation possible for all students.”
