Canutillo High School teacher placed on leave amid misconduct investigation
CANUTILLO, Texas (KVIA) — A Canutillo High School teacher is on paid administrative leave after a report alleged potential misconduct, the Canutillo Independent School District said Thursday.
CISD did not specify what the teacher is accused of, nor their identity.
“Canutillo ISD recently received a third-party report alleging a potential misconduct by an employee. The alleged conduct, if substantiated, would constitute potential violations of the Texas Education Code and CISD policy,” the district said in a statement.
District police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the report, CISD said. The teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after a preliminary investigation.
The paid administrative leave is in accordance with district protocol, CISD said.
Local law enforcement agencies helped the district with the investigation.
Because of federal privacy laws and the “confidentiality of personal matters,” CISD said it can’t provide any other information.
CISD provided a statement to ABC-7 explaining the investigation. It said, in part:
“Canutillo ISD takes the safety and well-being of our students extremely seriously. We are committed to thoroughly investigating all allegations involving student safety and will take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation, including any criminal or administrative action warranted by the facts.”
