BALTIMORE, Maryland (WJZ) — A video obtained by CBS News Baltimore shows a deadly collision involving a motorcycle and a stolen sedan Wednesday afternoon in Northwest Baltimore.
Police said a 69-year-old motorcyclist was killed after the crash at the intersection of N. Dukeland Street and W. North Avenue.
The stolen Kia became disabled after the crash, and a man and woman inside the vehicle fled the scene.
The motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“It’s terrible,” said Kenny Eebron, who lives nearby. “Again, a person lost their life out here. Nice day like this, just joyriding, never expect that they was gonna just lose their life on this day.”
The video shows the stolen Kia approaching the intersection and driving around another vehicle that appears to be stopped at a red light before colliding with the motorcyclist.
About 10 seconds later, the video shows a female passenger getting out of the smoking vehicle, followed by the male driver. The two then run from the scene as several neighbors appear to chase after them.
Police are searching for the suspects.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Baltimore police at 410-396-2606 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
Police: Teens crash stolen car into MTA bus The crash comes after several recent incidents involving stolen vehicles, including a crash last week in which police said a stolen car carrying several teenagers collided with an MTA bus.
Police said 16 bus passengers were injured. Four people inside the stolen vehicle were also injured, including two who suffered critical injuries.
The bus passengers ranged in age from 2 to 78.
According to a police dispatch call, officers began following the stolen vehicle near N. North Avenue and N. Gay Street before the driver sped away.
The pursuit continued through the Broadway East neighborhood.
Police said the car traveled eastbound on E. Oliver Street before colliding with the bus, which was traveling southbound on N. Wolfe Street. The impact sent the stolen car spinning nearly 360 degrees and pushed the bus into nearby trees.
