Gauchos Saturday roundup: Wins for volleyball, soccer and water polo
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) –
Big West Women’s Volleyball: UCSB 3, Bakersfield 0: Gabi Martinez led a balanced attack with 12 kills as the Gauchos improve to 2-0 in league and 6-7 overall.
The Gauchos totaled 9 blocks in the sweep (25-20, 25-23, 25-20).

Big West Women’s Soccer: UCSB 1, Sacramento State 0: UC Santa Barbara (6-1-4, 1-0-1) defeated Sacramento State (4-3-3, 0-1-1) 1-0 on Saturday night at Harder Stadium to earn their first conference victory of the season. The Gauchos held the Hornets off the scoreboard. The first time they have held an opponent scoreless since August 23. A PK goal by Emily Caughey was the difference in the game. NCAA Men’s Water Polo: UCSB 20, Wagner 10; UCSB 21, Air Force 14: The No. 14 UC Santa Barbara Men’s Water Polo team did an avian double on the second day of the Rare Air Challenge, defeating the Wagner Seahawks, 20-10, before taking down the hosting Air Force Falcons, 21-14. Oliver Sherwood led a balanced Gaucho attack with a hat-trick in the first game, though Sloan Brown, Charlie Johnson, Finn Genc, Dylan Morris and Hayden Tully all had multi-goal efforts against Wagner as well. Johnson scored four more against Air Force, with Luigi Canepa adding the same amount. Landon Lassahn and Genc also had hat-tricks against the Falcons. (UCSB Athletics).
