Amberly’s Place renovates front patio and garden thanks to grant
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) – Volunteers gathered Friday morning to put new plants and trees in their garden to help transform Amberly’s Place front patio.
The Lowe’s Community Impact Program awarded a $25,000 grant, which Amberly’s Place used towards the renovation.
Amberly’s Place said the renovation will mean so much to all those who come through.
“To be able to say you know if you don’t want to be inside right now or you just need to take a break, we can go outside, and there’s this beautiful place where they can just have some privacy and gather their thoughts and do what they need to do to decompress a little bit,” said Tori Bourguignon, Executive Director of Amberly’s Place.
Jeff Byrd, who sits on the board for Amberly’s Place, said they were very fortunate to be selected for the grant.
“You know this was countrywide. So it’s kind of a big deal. We’re very proud that Lowe’s chose us. And like I say, the help that it gives us a better ability to serve the Yuma community,” Byrd explained.
Lowe’s store manager Cesar Esqueda said he is proud to work for Lowe’s when it comes to giving new life to places.
“I feel so lucky to be a part of a company that powers us and promotes us to get out and support our community, that our everyday shoppers that come to our store and we have the opportunity to give,” Esqueda expressed.
The renovation will also include shade and a swing set on their patio.
