Oklahoma (KOCO) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a 60-year-old man from Tennessee drowned in Lake Eufaula Wednesday afternoon.
Troopers said the drowning happened at the lake, about 9 miles north of Eufaula in McIntosh County, just before 2:50 p.m. Wednesday.
John Bedecker, of Talbott, Tennessee, was reportedly attempting to push a boat from a sandbar, went into deeper water and then went underwater. The patrol reported that Bedecker’s brother pulled him back into the boat and started chest compressions, but that he died at the scene.
Troopers said no personal flotation devices were in use at the time of the incident.
