Carpinteria Planning Commission to host hearing at 7p.m. to consider Surfliner Inn
CARPINTERIA, Calif. (KEYT) Former railroad property West of Linden Ave. is at the center of a local debate.
For more than a decade developers have been eyeing the property.
The latest Surfliner Inn proposal and Environmental Impact Report will be the subject of a Carpinteria Planning Commission hearing and possible vote on Monday night starting at 7 p.m.
Carpinteria’s Public Information Officer Juliza Briones said people are welcome to attend in person or online.
“This evening we are actually going to be considering the Surfliner Inn project and reviewing the Environmental Impact Report and so it is really important for all residents to come out and listen. We have a couple of different options to get involved; either join remotely on Zoom, you can also join through the city’s YouTube page and also in person, or if you want to submit public comment written you can submit it to publiccomment@carpinteriaca.gov,” said Briones.
Linden Managers LLC’s managing partner Whitt Hollis will attend in person.
The developers bought a full page add in the latest Coastal View News that includes quotes from supporters including a farmer, a business owner and a nonprofit executive.
Pushback led to changes in the proposal that now calls for 36 hotel rooms.
The commission is likely to review traffic patterns as well.
