Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy struck by vehicle in Murrieta

MURRIETA (CNS) – A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was struck by a vehicle today in Murrieta and hospitalized in unknown condition.
The crash was reported at 8:51 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Winchester and Murrieta Hot Springs roads, according to Sgt. Robert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy was conducting a traffic stop while outside his patrol vehicle when a passing vehicle traveling at an unspecified speed hit the deputy.
The deputy, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital. The deputy’s condition was not immediately known, but Martinez said the deputy had stable vital signs when taken to the hospital.
The investigation was ongoing.
