Santa Maria Police arrest teenager for firearm possession

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) – Santa Maria Police arrested a teenager for firearm possession during a traffic stop just after 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
The SMPD Gang Supression Team stopped the teenager at the intersection of Miller and Central Avenues and found probable cause to search his car.
SMPD detectives found a loaded, unregistered handgun between the driver’s seat and the center console before the 19-year-old admitted the gun was his.
SMPD officers then arrested the teenager while releasing his passenger at the scene.
