EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Thursday, a crash involving a Sun Metro bus injured one person, the El Paso Police Department said.

It happened on Gateway Boulevard South and Loop 375 at Transmountain. EPPD said the call came in shortly before 8 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a Sun Metro Bus on its side. One person was taken by ambulance with minor injuries.

EPPD says the bus crashed with a four-door sedan.

The City of El Paso and Sun Metro provided ABC-7 with this statement:

“Unfortunately, a bus was involved in a collision today. As part of standard protocol El Paso Police and Sun Metro will look into the incident. A back-up bus was dispatched to continue the route. Since our buses travel over 500,000 miles each month, safety is always a top priority. We ask the public to help promote roadway safety by slowing down and being extra vigilant around buses as they make frequent stops, and passengers may be crossing nearby.”

Earlier on Thursday, another Sun Metro bus crashed near the intersection of Edgemere and Airway Boulevard. Four people went to the hospital.
