IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA) – The heat is on in Imperial County as triple-digit temperatures have residents looking for ways to stay cool.

Some local businesses are seeing more people needing a quick way to cool down.

For Spears Shaved Ice, that steady stream of customers means working fast as to not leave people standing in line in the heat.

“It’s hot in here too and we’re dying in here too. But not as bad as our customers. But the heat is just so bad out there and I Just don’t want you standing out there in that heat, you know. And I want to get them done as fast as I can to get you guys in and out, just to help you cool off too,” said Tommy Spear with Spears Shaved Ice.

For people running errands, or needing to be outside, health officials is advising them to always stay hydrated and drink water.
