Santa Barbara Tennis Club wins Men’s ‘B’ League Interclub Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Santa Barbara Tennis Club is celebrating a Men’s ‘B’ Team Interclub Championship tonight. They capped off an undefeated season in the final round of the playoffs with a 3-2 win against Yacht club Thursday night. 

Each team won two matches with it coming down to a well played contest on court two to decide the champion.

Jeff Wong and Todd Lowenstein won the first set and Wong was serving at 5-2 to close it out. Yacht Club hit some great shots to go up 0-40 in the game, trying to seize momentum.

With teammates and spectators watching from the deck, Wong and Lowenstein delivered, winning five points in a row to close it out, winning the game and the set 6-2.

It set off a celebration, capping off a memorable summer season of tennis.

Interclub involves teams from all around Santa Barbara competing once a week throughout the summer, culminating in single elimination playoffs to decide a champion. The ‘A’ Team from Santa Barbara Tennis Club will play for a championship at home next Wednesday against La Cumbre.
