Star on the Mountain to light up for new Visit El Paso executive director
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – The Star on the Mountain will light up Friday night to celebrate the appointment of a new executive director at Visit El Paso.
Destination El Paso said Veronica Castro’s new position will be represented on the star through Visit El Paso’s colors.
Castro has more than 20 years of experience and recently served as director of tourism development & strategic alliances, Visit El Paso said.
In her new role, she will oversee the Visit El Paso team and work to strengthen the city’s visitor economy. Destination El Paso said she will strive to position El Paso as a destination for travel, meetings, sports and group business.
Castro’s contributions to the destination and community led to the City of El Paso proclaiming May 16 as “Veronica Castro Day.”
“El Paso is a destination unlike any other, and I am incredibly proud of the work our team has done to share its story,” Castro said. “I look forward to leading Visit El Paso into its next chapter, continuing to strengthen our partnerships and finding new opportunities to grow our visitor economy while ensuring our work benefits the community we are so proud to represent.”
