COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. (KESQ) – An I-Team investigation into the way police respond to people in crisis. In many cases, these emergencies lead to life-or-death decisions.
“We meet people on their worst day,” said RSO Deputy Soto-Barraza.
News Channel 3’s Gavin Nguyen investigates the growing mental health crisis, an issue officers are facing valley-wide.
“How often do you see these people in distress?” Gavin asks.
And why local law enforcement says they don’t have the help they need.
“We have exhausted our resources pretty quickly,” said Lt. Michael Torres of the Palm Springs Police Department.
