Local Colombians react to deadly earthquake in Colombia

COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. (KESQ) – The impact of a deadly earthquake in Colombia is being felt here in the Coachella Valley, where local residents with family and friends back home are watching the situation closely.

A powerful 7.4 earthquake struck Colombia on Monday, causing widespread damage in several communities. The latest reported death toll has climbed to at least 254 people, with hundreds more injured and thousands reported missing.

Here in the Coachella Valley, members of the local Colombian community say they are concerned for loved ones and closely following updates from home.
