Emergency trail closure on Teton Pass after human and bear encounter

JACKSON, Wyo. (KIFI) — The U.S. Forest Service has issued an emergency closure for part of the Bridger-Teton National Forest following a reported human-bear encounter.
The closure affects History Trail from the Trail Creek area to its intersection at the top of Teton Pass in the Jackson Ranger District.
According to the Forest Service, the closure is effective immediately while officials investigate the encounter.
The agency is asking people to avoid the area until further notice.
Additional details about the encounter, including whether anyone was injured or what type of bear was involved, have not been released.
