Back to school supply drive and fashion show coming to the Imperial valley Mall
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA) – Back to school shopping can get a little pricey. That’s why a local non-profit is trying to ease some of those costs with a school supply giveaway.
Access to Thrive’s Compassion and Action is inviting the community to a back to school fashion show and supply drive at the Imperial Valley Mall Friday.
The organization is collecting school supplies, including notebooks, backpacks, and pencils.
“We’re very excited. We’re hosting a back to school fashion show,” Imperial Valley Mall Marketing Director Edgar Macias said.
“Actually 8 stores here partnered with us to showcase uniforms and back to school outfits that they want, that are oon sale right now for back to schoo,” he added.
The mall has partnered with some of its flagship stores for the fashion show.
“They’ll be modeling for big brands like Children’s Place, Macy’s, JC Penney, and more,” Access To Thrive’s CEO Ashley Contrereas said.
Access to Thrive says the children will be modeling some of the biggest brands, but the main goal of the event is to collect school supplies to distribute.
“Access to Thrive and the Imperial Valley Mall are collaborating to do a donation drive. So tomorrow. We will be collecting back to school supplies, backpacks, uniforms, and also water bottles for hydration stations for the summer,” Contreras explained.
The first distribution of supplies will be at the Imperial Valley Honda dealership next Friday.
The event is Friday, starting at 3 p.m. and it’s free to attend.
