Man who said he was hacked, sentenced to 300 years for having child sexual abuse materials

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (KHBS, KHOG) — A Siloam Springs man was found guilty on 30 counts of possessing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
Alin Toews was sentenced in Benton County Court to 300 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
The prosecution argued that evidence ties Toews to CSAM found after a tip. Some of it pointed towards an IP and some used the date of birth or email using Toews’ name.
The defense said the evidence shows there is CSAM, but the state didn’t prove it was his or that he knowingly possessed it. Toews was arrested on March 31, 2025.
After a search warrant was executed in March 2025, investigators say they found a USB with nearly 200 videos and multiple photos depicting child sex abuse material, with children ranging from newborns to 12 years of age.
When police spoke with Toews, he said that he was hacked and that he did not remember viewing child sex abuse material and that his substance abuse caused him to black out.
The defense attorney, Kyle Blyth, said he’s disappointed with the sentence, but respect’s the jury’s decision.
Toews waived his right to a jury trial for sentencing. Blyth said the sentence was something both the defense and state agreed to.
