SACRAMENTO, California (KCRA) — Deputies in the Sacramento region rescued a missing child and arrested 13 people during a human trafficking operation, officials said.

Attorney General Rob Bonta said the July 15 operation by the Sacramento Regional Human Trafficking Task Force focused on illegal commercial sex, targeting buyers and assisting victims.

Officers arrested and cited 12 people for solicitation and booked one person into jail for solicitation and resisting arrest.

Undercover officers also rescued a child trafficking victim who had previously been reported missing, authorities said.

KCRA 3 Investigates spent a year talking to sex trafficking survivors, advocates, lawmakers and law enforcement about the problems they’re seeing on the streets and what they think needs to change.
