Body camera video shows arrest of suspect in deadly Springdale hotel shooting

SPRINGDALE, Ohio (WLWT) — Springdale police have released body camera footage showing the arrest of Nigel Norman, who is accused of fatally shooting a 30-year-old inside a hotel room last week.
Investigators said Norman fired multiple shots into a neighboring room at the Extended Stay Hotel around 5 a.m. Tuesday, telling them he was trying to scare the mother of his child.
Instead, Charles Carr was struck in the back while sleeping beside his girlfriend, Ariana Reynolds, and their one-year-old son, Xavier.
The footage shows officers locating Norman about four hours after the shooting. He was found hiding in the back of a laundry room at the Super 8 Motel next door.
Carr’s family has called the shooting “senseless,” saying they believe he gave his life shielding his little boy.
Norman remains in the Hamilton County Justice Center and has pleaded not guilty to charges including murder, felonious assault and improperly firing a gun. His attorney has previously said video evidence will prove his client’s innocence.
Norman’s bond is set at $30 million.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help with funeral expenses; money donated will also go towards helping support Carr’s son.
