Rye Fire Chief orders emergency evacuation as crews battle new wildfire

UPDATE: The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has expanded the evacuation zone to Lazy Acres and Bishop Castle.
CUSTER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) – The Fire Chief ordered immediate evacuations for people living along Old San Isabel Road to Highway 165.
The Custer County Sheriff’s office announced the evacuation orders at 6:24 a.m. on Monday morning. The department said all residents staying within one mile of the Aspen Acres neighborhood must “leave immediately.”
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said Hwy 165 is closed from the San Isabel Dam to MM 15. It said several fire agencies are working together to fight the fire.
Pueblo County has set up an evacuation site at 1650 Cooper Place, and a second for large animals at 4 Bar S, 6675 Hwy 78 W.
