Pennsylvania man arrested after allegedly spitting at officers and claiming to have contagious disease

CARLISE, Pennsylvania (WGAL) — A Carlisle man was arrested June 17 after the Carlisle Police Department said he acted disorderly, appeared intoxicated, and twice attempted to spit on officers while claiming he had a highly contagious communicable disease.
Officers responded to a reported disturbance in the 200 block of Noble Boulevard, according to Carlisle police.
Police describe erratic behavior At the scene, officers encountered Paul Michaletz, who police said was behaving erratically, acting disorderly, and showing obvious signs of alcohol consumption.
Officers say he tried to spit on police Police said officers tried several times to communicate with Michaletz and de-escalate the situation, but he became increasingly aggressive and ignored repeated warnings to stop his behavior.
“During the incident, Michaletz spat at officers and later, while being taken into custody, intentionally tried again to spit in an officer’s face in an apparent attempt to spread his condition,” police said.
Michaletz was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and two additional charges.
