Evacuations and pre-evacuations orders lifted for ‘Hammer Fire’ north of Hanover

El Paso County, Colo. (KRDO) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirms that evacuations and pre-evacuations have been lifted for the “Hammer Fire” north of Hanover.

Evacuations have been lifted for Hammer Road east to South Peyton Highway and Myers Road north to Squirrel Creek, as well as pre-evacuations for Hammer Road east to South Peyton, Squirrel Creek Road north to Clements.

First responders confirmed in a press briefing on April 23 at 10 a.m. that the fire grew to 4,900 acres overnight and has 60% containment.

EPSO encourages individuals to have a Peak Alerts account to remain updated on changes. The so-called “Hammer Fire” broke out on Wednesday, April 22, in the Hanover area of southeastern El Paso County.
