CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Florida (WBBH) — A Port Charlotte High School teacher was arrested on a domestic battery charge following an alleged incident on Easter.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to a well-being check at a home along Cochran Boulevard on Monday.

The victim told deputies that she went to Easter dinner at her family’s residence and returned home at approximately 7 p.m. when she noticed Raymond Chumbley, 44, moving her belongings into a spare bedroom.

The victim stated that she wanted to watch television in the spare room, so she took an Amazon Fire TV Stick from the primary bedroom, placed it in the spare room’s television, and grabbed a beer.

According to the report, the victim said Chumbley became upset and started yelling at her after noticing she was drinking one of his beers and taking the Fire Stick. The report also states Chumbley took the beer can out of her hand and smashed it on her forehead.

The victim then reportedly went to the garage to grab another drink, and Chumbley followed. While they were both in the garage, Chumbley threw the victim against the refrigerator and pushed her to the floor, according to the CCSO report.

The report further states that Chumbley and the victim separated for the rest of the night after he calmed down.

Deputies at the scene noted that the victim had a bruise on the left side of her forehead and another one near her backside.

According to the report, the victim said Chumbley had been through this type of incident in the past.

Chumbley was arrested for domestic battery and taken to the Charlotte County Jail.
