Metra Union Pacific West line snagged after train hits trespasser

Illinois (WBBM) — The Metra Union Pacific West line was halted near the west Chicago suburb of Geneva after a person was hit by a train early Thursday morning.
Metra described the person who was struck as a trespasser.
A train scheduled to depart from Elburn at 7:25 a.m. and another scheduled to depart from Geneva at 7:49 a.m. instead originated in West Chicago because of the incident, Metra said.
A train set to leave Elburn at 7:10 a.m. did make it past West Chicago.
Service was set to resume at 7:30 a.m. Metra commuters were advised to check the Metra website and train tracker for updates.
