BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The City of Bend is finalizing plans to expand Franklin Avenue, a project scheduled to begin this May. The construction will add new vehicle lanes, bike lanes and expanded sidewalks to the thoroughfare.
The project is funded through the city’s five-year capital projects plan. Construction is expected to conclude in May 2027.
The city plans to conduct the work in phases to manage the impact on the downtown area. The first phase focuses on infrastructure, specifically replacing a water pipe that dates back to the 1930s. Franklin Avenue serves as a primary thoroughfare for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
KTVZ’s Spencer Sacks has been following the story and will have a full report tonight at 10pm on Fox and 11 pm on NBC.
