SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) — A Sacramento police officer shot a man who was armed with a knife in the Northgate neighborhood on Tuesday evening, police said.
The shooting happened in the 3100 block of Northstead Drive near Strauch Elementary School.
Sgt. Justin Boyd said that police officers responded at 6:45 p.m. to reports of a person with a knife and located the suspect.
Police gave the man multiple commands but he “did not comply with the commands of the officers” and advanced toward them while armed with the knife, Boyd said.
At least one officer fired their weapon and the man was shot at least one time.
Officers then provided medical attention.
All officers were unhurt and the man was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said.
Details on his age and the exact location of the shooting were not confirmed.
