A Newberg man was charged Monday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action after a deadly shooting.
Eric D. Cosgrove was arrested Sunday night after a woman called 911, saying her sons were shooting at each other. The victim, whose name is redacted in court documents, was pronounced dead a few hours later from gunshot wounds.
The woman told investigators that Cosgrove and the victim had been in an argument over fixing her coffee pot, which escalated into the deadly shooting, a probable cause statement says. Cosgrove went to his home during the argument and got a gun, followed the victim inside the victim’s home, then started shooting, a witness reportedly told deputies.
Deputies found a gun in Cosgrove’s truck.
A no-bond warrant was issued for Cosgrove’s arrest. It was not clear on Monday morning whether he was in custody.
