Prineville Honors 9/11 victims with memorial and flag display

PRINEVILLE, Ore. {KTVZ} – Volunteers in Prineville are preparing a powerful remembrance memorial to honor the victims of the September 11th attacks.
The display, which includes canvases recounting the events of that day along with other memorabilia, is a centerpiece of the tribute. Photos from last year’s memorial will show the emotional impact the display carried for the community.
Across the street from Prineville City Hall, 2,977 American flags will be placed on the Crook County Courthouse lawn—each one representing a life lost in the attacks.
Event organizer Mona Glade said the memorial is a way to ensure the tragedy is never forgotten.
“It’s important. It’s important that people never forget what happened that day. It happened to us, to our country. The majority of us remember, a lot have forgotten, and a lot need to learn about it,” Glade said. The remembrance, happening Thursday, will begin at 8 a.m.
Prineville police and fire crews will gather with residents to reflect and honor the lives lost.
